In 1890, in a small alpine village in Savoie, France, a blacksmith named Joseph Opinel created a tool that was robust, simple, and beautiful. Using local materials from the region, he designed a knife that was foldable and would conveniently slip into one's pocket. Msr. Opinel invented the first pocket knife, which would go on to become a design icon.
The company continues to manufacture in the French Alps and is famous for its wood-handled knives; knives that move with you in life, and are often passed down from generation to generation.
Deeply rooted in craftsmanship, practicality, and heritage, the cheese knife and fork set is beautifully designed, perfectly weighted, and true to its heritage, practical.
The knife interlocks with the fork for an original and practical display on the cheese platter, board, or plate.
The blade and fork are made of stainless steel, and the handle is from sustainably sourced Beechwood, which delivers excellent mechanical strength. The Beech wood is grown in French forests that were planted at the time of Colbert to supply wood for the building of French Navy ships.

To ensure the longevity and performance of your Opinel products, we recommend these care instructions:
1. Cleaning: The stainless steel blades require no special maintenance, making them easy to clean by hand. After each use, clean the blades and dry thoroughly to prevent deterioration.
2. Storage: Store the knives in a dry place to protect the blade and handle from moisture and damage. The stainless steel fork can be utilised as a holder for the knife when not in use.
To preserve the longevity and sharpness of the blade, hand washing the knife is recommended.
The fork is dishwasher safe.
