Travel back in time to revisit 2016 with Taste the Sunshine, a horizontal tasting of four wines from the 2016 Vintage. Many have heard of a vertical tasting, which involves the same wine across multiple vintages. A horizontal tasting, on the other hand, features a range of wines from the same vintage, and even better, the same Estate, as offered by Foxes Island.
Foxes Island is the only winery in New Zealand to cellar-age all its wines before release, however, it is uncommon to have four wines available from the same vintage at the same time. “We often talk about the vintage as it relates to one particular wine or variety; however, with four different 2016 wines available, it changes the conversation and allows people to get a genuine sense of the entire year. Although the varietals are different, you can taste the four seasons, and the NZ sunshine across all the wines; distinct similarities that are delicious,” says Founder and Vigneron, John Belsham.
The 4-bottle Horizontal pack offer is limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
As wine is meant to be shared with friends, the Horizontal offers a nice twist to hosting a wine tasting at home.
The 4-bottle pack is perfect for up to 6-8 people, depending on pour size! "Everything needed for a wine tasting will be in the box, except your wine glasses and friends,” says co-director Kelly Brown. “For a home wine tasting, plan on one glass for each wine, so it’s easy to compare and contrast. If you don’t have enough glasses, ask friends to bring their own, or Foxes can sell those to you too.”
Each Box of Sunshine will include: 1 bottle each of 2016 Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Dry Riesling, and Sur Lie Aged Sauvignon Blanc wrapped in an eco-friendly, reusable 100% New Zealand wool sleeve that is both protective and insulating.
The box will also include a set of tasting notes.
