2016 Estate Pinot Noir, Awatere Valley, Marlborough
Crafted from the outstanding 2016 vintage, this single-estate Pinot Noir captures the purity and elegance of the Awatere Valley. Sourced from three Dijon clones planted across seven distinct river terraces above the glacial-blue Awatere River, the wine reflects both site and season.
Fermented with indigenous vineyard yeasts in open-top cuves, then aged 10 months in small-format French oak barriques, the wine was crafted using gravity flow and gentle handling to preserve its integrity. Naturally settled and unfined, it is vegan-friendly by nature.
Like all Foxes Island wines, the Pinot Noir was cellar-aged before release, allowing its complex layers and fine structure to evolve gracefully. Enjoy now, or cellar further for long-term aging potential.
Wine Commentary
94 Points - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
Graceful and complex, the inviting bouquet shows dark berry, dried herbs, cured meat, earthy mushrooms, and toasted nut nuances. The palate is rich and refined with excellent weight and silky flow, wonderfully supported by finely infused tannins, finishing persistent and seductive.
