The 2014 Artist Series Pinot Noir is crafted from the first block of Pinot Noir planted on the Foxes Island Estate, located in the Awatere Valley of southern Marlborough. This cooler, drier subregion is renowned for producing Pinot Noir with structure, purity, and distinctive mineral tension — characteristics that define this limited release.

A warm, even growing season delivered fruit of impressive intensity, resulting in a Pinot Noir with precise lines, strong structure, and a refined yet commanding presence. This vintage especially appeals to those who enjoy highly structured Pinot Noirs or styles reminiscent of Central Otago, yet seek the elegance and natural balance that the Awatere Valley is known for.

Bottle age has elevated the wine’s complexity. Aromas of fresh and preserved cherry, spiced plum, rose petal, earth, and subtle barrel spice lead to a taut, dry palate with lively acidity, salivating tannins, and flavours of red berries, savoury herbs, and forest floor. The palate is complex, harmonious, and seamlessly layered.

Handled gently throughout the winemaking process and naturally settled on its own, the wine is unfined and vegan-friendly. Only 5,862 bottles were produced.

The 2014 vintage can be enjoyed now or confidently cellared through 2030+.
